Under His Spell

Holden McGlum is in hot water again–this time at school.

It all started when Wolfgang Munch decided to play a senior prank.

“You wanna watch me steal the final exam right off Mr. Ueda’s desk?” Wolfgang was heard whispering to Morgan Fyres.

“Like taking candy from a baby,” Wolfgang laughed as he stashed the test in his jacket. “Mr. Ueda leaves his door unlocked between classes.”

“You have to get rid of it!” Morgan exclaims.

“No worries,” Wolfgang tells us. “I stashed it in first locker I could find.”

However, Wolfgang’s actions did not go unnoticed.

“Wolfgang was definitely acting sus,” Cassandra Goth reveals.

Back in the classroom, Holden was the first to finish the final exam.

“All that studying paid off. I can’t believe I’m going to graduate in just a few days.”

However, Holden’s fast completion of the exam raised the eyebrows of Mr. Ueda.

As a result, Holden was called to meet Principal Prescott at his locker.

“I just received an anonymous tip that you stole an exam from Mr. Ueda’s classroom this morning. Open your locker this instant, Mr. McGlum!”

“I wasn’t sweating it,” Holden states. “I don’t cheat and I don’t steal!”

Holden opened his locker for Principal Prescott and couldn’t believe his eyes.

“I–I don’t know how that got there!” Holden stammers.

Meanwhile, back in the classroom, Cassandra heard the rumors that were already swirling about Holden and the missing test.

“I saw Wolfgang by Holden’s locker earlier and can pretty much guess what he did to him. I better go talk to Principal Prescott to clear his name.”

Meanwhile, Principal Prescott was sealing Holden’s fate.

“Academic dishonesty of any kind is not tolerated. You are hereby expelled!”

“I already told you!” Holden exclaims. “I didn’t take that exam and have no idea how it ended up in my locker!”

“Mr. McGlum, all I can say is that you had a fine record at this school until you fell into cahoots with Bella Benevolent. Now you must face the consequences of your actions.”

It was that moment that Cassandra slipped into the room to report what Wolfgang had done to Holden.

“Don’t you dare bring Bella into this!” Holden stated defiantly. “She’s done more for the Sims of Copperdale High than you ever could.”

“In that second, I froze,” Cassandra states. “There I was getting ready to put myself on the line to defend Holden and he was singing Bella’s praises yet again. It was then and there that I decided he could solve his own problems.”

Meanwhile Bella was seeking solace in Edwin’s arms as she gave him bits and pieces about the disastrous camping trip.

“I’m sorry, Edwin,” Bella whispers. “I don’t mean to be so emotional.”

“Bella, please don’t apologize for your feelings–ever,” Edwin gently offered.

After a few minutes, Bella graciously changed the subject asking Edwin the reason for his absence from the camping trip.

“It’s not that I didn’t want to go,” Edwin says with hesitation, “but my dad is controlling and kind of. . .intense.”

After a few seconds of silence, Edwin confessed even more.

“He’s dangerous, Bella, and I have to live with him.”

Bella gasps, “Oh my God, Edwin. “You can’t go back there!”

“I regretted the words as soon as they left my mouth,” Edwin tells us.

However, he quickly backtracked, adding a nervous laugh. “No, it’s ok, Bella. I’m exaggerating. It’s really not all that bad. I’ll see you later!”

“I had a very bad feeling about Edwin’s home situation,” Bella reveals. “I knew I had to do something.”

Bella rushed back home to confide in her parents, but found Holden at her doorstep.

“Bella, someone stashed Mr. Ueda’s final exam in my locker and now I’m expelled! It was probably Edwin since he seems to hate my guts so much.”

However, Bella was at her breaking point.

“Do you have any idea how dumb you sound right now?” she exclaimed. “Not everything is about you, Holden.”

“But–“Holden interjected.

“I need to go check on Edwin,” Bella called before taking off for Forgotten Hollow. “He’s got real problems. Just go home, Holden.”

A short time later, Bella arrived at Edwin’s home.

“The house was creepy, but the door was ajar, so I went in.”

Unbeknownst to Bella, Holden had followed her.

“There was no way I was going to let Bella go into that creep’s house alone.”

Bella ventured through the dimly lit hallway.

“Hello?” she called out nervously to a figure playing a pipe organ. “Is Edwin home?”

“No, dear, he is not,” the figure replied, “but I am.”

Before Bella could respond, Vlad was on his feet.

“Ms. Benevolent made a very grave mistake visiting Forgotten Hollow,” Vlad tells us.

“Help me,” Bella was heard whispering to anyone who might be within earshot.

“I followed Bella inside,” Holden reveals, “and she seemed to be swaying back and forth.

“All of a sudden, I felt something strange come over me. I remember nothing after that.”

Just a few seconds later, Edwin walked through the door to witness the havoc his father had just created.

“Vlad, how-how could you?” he called out to the figure lurking behind him.

Before Edwin could wait for a response, Bella immediately fell to the floor in a deep slumber.

Followed by Holden.

“The question should not be how could I, my dear son, but rather how could I 𝙣𝙤𝙩?” Vlad stated solemnly.

Edwin, consumed by emotion, could only bury his face in his hands.

Is this the end for Bella and Holden? Can Edwin find a way to save them before it’s too late?
