Not Like Father, Not Like Son

Bella Benevolent was spotted hanging out at her pool, sharing inside jokes with Holden McGlum, when the unthinkable happened.

“I caught the grill on fire–again,” Bruce Benevolent reveals. “I guess my level 10 cooking skill means nothing. Lucky for me, a passerby knew just what to do.

That passerby was none other than new Copperdale student, Edwin Straud, who Bella and her friends met just the day before.

Lucy was quick to invite Edwin in to thank him and welcome him to the area.

“My mom practically told Edwin my family’s life story which is totally cringe,” Bella laments. “I was feeling self-conscious enough just sitting there in my bikini.”

Bella wasn’t the only Sim ill-at-ease.

Nova, the Benevolent’s new family pet, took an instant disliking to Edwin for reasons unknown.

However, Nova’s rejection didn’t faze Edwin in the least as he arrived at home in Forgotten Hollow, grinning from ear to ear.

Little did he know that his joy was about to be squashed by a notorious Sim.

“Do you really think that you can be one of them? calls a quiet, yet sinister voice from a pipe organ. Bella will hate you when she finds out what you truly are.”

“I knew it!” Edwin was heard shouting, after being torn away from his daydreamimg. “I knew you followed me to Tartosa! I knew you followed me to Oasis Springs! When are you going to let me live my own life?”

“Any loving father would not let his son put himself in harm’s way. Am I not a loving father?”

“You are barely a father at all, Vlad,” Edwin replies dumfounded.

“Enough!” Vlad erupts in anger. “You forget my power. I could end you here, once and for all, but it is through my grace an I do mean grace, that you remain.”

“I’ve been patient with you, Edwin, Vlad continues. “I’ve poured myself into you for almost eighteen years, waiting for you to completely embrace who you are, waiting for you to reach your full potential and I’ll continue to wait– if it means my legacy lives on– but I will NOT have you mock me. Do you understand?”

Vlad mistook Edwin’s silence for agreement.

“Yes, you’ve told me you don’t want this–any of this–but I’ve seen the look in your eyes when you watch me play the pipe organ. I’ve seen you lose yourself when you devour a simple plasma fruit plant. I’ve watched as you could barely restrain yourself from releasing your fangs into another Sim’s neck. You desire plasma, my Edwin, and from that desire yields great power.”

Edwin took just a few seconds to reply.

“My desire is not to consume any more plasma than I have to, Vlad. My desire is to go to high school, maybe college. Make some real friends. Maybe, find love.”

“Vampires do not find love!” Vlad roars in reply. Vampires find power and use it to destroy everything around them!”

“I’ve had enough, Vlad,” Edwin states in exasperation. “You do you and I’ll do me. I’m out of here.”

“Yes, run along now,” Vlad states mockingly. “Since you’re not vampire enough to satisfy your thirst the real way, you can buy a fruity little Plasma Jane from the Rattlesnake Juice Bar. But ah yes, you were already headed there, I suppose.”

A bit later, Edwin did indeed arrive at the bar, a bit sheep-faced.

“Despite what my dad says, I am not ashamed of getting my plasma from a bar,” Edwin states, “and no, the irony is not lost on me that my server is Caleb Vatore.”

“It’s just plasma though, right?” Edwin thinks aloud. “Would it really taste better coming from a Sim’s neck? Do I even want to drink it from a Sim’s neck?

Before, Edwin could contemplate any longer, Lucy Benevolent ploppped down beside him.

“I had to ask Edwin what he was doing out so late and at a bar at that!” Lucy laughs. “He’s such a sweet kid, though.”

“We talked about everything including TEEN and how Bella founded it. They’re having an open rally in a few days!” Edwin says.

Despite staying up late into the night conversing with Lucy, Edwin actually made it to school the next day in chipper spirits.

However, his good mood was soured when he was confronted by mean boy bully, Wolfgang Munch.

“This school doesn’t have room for any more freaks,” Wolfgang was heard taunting.

“I know I have the ability to rip Wolfgang to shreds with very little effort”Edwin reveals through deep breaths, “but I had to remind myself that I am not my father. Instead, I went to class and started studying my notes.”

However, a few hours later, Edwin realized just how much emotion he had been suppressing.

“It’s the end of the day and my desire to bite into Wolfgang hasn’t stopped. I don’t want his plasma–I want to destroy him! Does this make me a monster?”

Can Edwin keep his cool at Copperdale? How will the other students react with they learn they are walking the halls with yet another type of occult Sim?
