After sharing her first kiss with Edwin, Bella invited him over to hang out for the evening.
“Last night was amazing, but I realize I’ve got to come clean with Bella about Vlad’s threats. I have no intention in turning her into a vampire, but she’s got to know that we’ve got a real problem on our hands.”
“I’ve got a special surprise for Edwin tonight,” Bella tells us. “The entire family is in on it.”🎁
“I’m so glad you were able to come over tonight on such short notice,” Bella told Edwin.
“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be,” Edwin replied earnestly.
“As we lay under the stars, all I could think about was how lucky I am” Edwin tells us. “I just wanted to be present in the moment with Bella.” 💞🌟
“Still, I knew I had to warn her about Vlad, but the strangest thing happened instead.”
“Bella,” Edwin began. “There’s something you need to know. I–I–I love you.” 🤩
“So I kissed her –standing right there on her front lawn–and for the second time in my life, the world felt right.” Edwin tell us. ❤️🔥
“I also have to tell you something,” Bella said, after pulling away from the kiss. “I love you, too!”
“I can’t tell you what it means to me to have a boyfriend that’s not afraid to tell me how he feels about me!” Bella gushes to us. 💕
After a few minutes, Bella led Edwin to the family dining room for the unexpected surprise.
“Happy birthday, Edwin!” Bruce bellowed from behind the strawberry birthday cake. 🎉🎂
“How did you know it was my birthday and how did you know you that strawberry cake is my favorite?” Edwin cried.
“I have my way of finding things out!” Bella laughed.
“Happy birthday, Edwin!” Lucy exclaimed as she pulled Edwin in for an embrace. “I can’t wait to see you turn into a young adult.”
“I think I can make that happen right now,” Edwin laughed.
Suddenly, a cold voice interrupted the celebration.
“I hope I’m not interrupting the festivities, but it isn’t every day that a father gets to watch his son age into a young adult.”
After a few uncomfortable seconds, Bella approached Edwin.
“This is your special night,” Bella said softly to him. “I can ask Vlad to leave if you prefer.”
“Nonsense! I’ve got my party hat on,” Vlad roared.
“I wasn’t surprised that Vlad had shown up to ruin my moment, but I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction” Edwin tells us. “I popped that confetti holder and blew out my candles as fast as I could.” 🎊
“Now that I’ve aged up, I feel a bit more mature, a bit more confident, but the thing I feel the most is independent. Vlad still has a lot of power, but now he no longer has legal control over me.”
Vlad must have sensed his son’s newfound sense of freedom because he pulled Edwin into the hallway for a little chat.
“Don’t get too cozy with the Benevolents! You have two days until you must fulfill your promise to make Bella one of us or you both will face my wrath!”
“I’m aware of that Vlad,” Edwin responded coldly. “Until then you can get out of my face!”
After Edwin stormed off, Vlad made himself at home.
“We’re so glad to have you in our home, Vlad,” Lucy beamed with as much enthusiasm as she could muster. “We adore Edwin. He’s a remarkable young man!”
“Yes, and Bella will be an extraordinary–asset– to Edwin. I understand she is mere days from becoming a young adult.”
“It’s very obvious that there’s something sinister about Vlad,” Lucy reveals to us. “It’s obvious he’s a vampire, but that’s not what’s bothering me. He’s got a menacing vibe.” 🧛🏻
After Vlad finally left, Bruce and Lucy had a serious discussion.
“How can a young man like Edwin be related to a creep like that?” Bruce exclaimed in disbelief. “I can’t bear the thought of Edwin going back home with him.”
“What if he stayed with us?” Lucy asked. “We have the entire third floor available. It would give him the safe space he needs until he goes away to college.”
“I’m so grateful Mom and Dad care as much about Edwin as I do,” Bella states. “I’ll rest easy knowing that he can stay here, but I hope that we can convince him to go along with this offer..”
“Bella’s parents asked me to move in,” Edwin tells us. “They said they needed some extra help with the younger kids and noticed how well I interacted with them.”
“They’re really cool,” Edwin adds. “I know they’re genuinely concerned about me and for once in my life, I’m going to do what’s best for me. I’m not even going home to pack my things.”
“The truth is that the Benevolents are like the family I”ve never had. They see me, accept me and embrace me. I don’t want this to end.”
Can Edwin enjoy a few more days of bliss before Vlad unleashes his wrath? Will Edwin be forced to turn Bella into a vampire and change both of their lives forever?
