Supernatural Smackdown

After reading Vlad’s journal, Edwin is determined to meet with Greg to ask some questions . . . and he’s taking Bella along for the ride.

“Call me crazy, but I think coming face to face with a feral werewolf is a bad idea,” Bella tells us.

“Edwin, I’m super proud of you for wanting to stop Vlad, but we really don’t have a plan in place if Greg goes ballistic on us.”

“No worries,” Edwin replied between taking sips of plasma juice. “I’ve leveled up my vampire skill and this drink will give me the boost I need if Greg should attack us.”

“Seriously, Bella, most of the stuff you’ve heard about Greg is pure fiction,” Edwin reasured. “Kristopher told me that he’s actually quite open if you approach him the right way.”

“I couldn’t help freaking out,” Bella adds. “I felt like Greg was going to attack us at any given moment.”

Bella and Edwin didn’t need to worry. There was no sign of Greg at his rumored place of residence.

“After an hour or so of waiting around, we felt pretty foolish,” Edwin states. “We decided to cut our losses and look for frogs.”

“When it was time to head for home, I suddenly felt a strange sensation. I could sense that it was not Bella who was walking beside me.”

“Yep, when I saw that it was Greg I panicked and took off, just like the coward that Vlad had always told me I was,” Edwin states.

“But it was Vlad’s condemning voice that made me go back and confront him” Edwin adds. “I wanted to break his power over me and the only way to do that was to face my fear.”

“Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no!” Bella was heard wailing after Edwin returned to Greg.

“Er, Greg?” Edwin began. “You don’t know me at all, but my name is Edwin and maybe you know my father, Vlad? Well, I’m sort of in this predicament with him and. . .”

“Even I could tell how lame I sounded,” Edwin reveals to us. “I was just so nervous, rambling all over the place. I had to get to the point and fast!”

“Well, I’ve been I’ve been reading Vlad’s journal and he seemed to believe that you destroyed his happiness with my mother, Lina?” Edwin stammered. I mean, did you know her? I’m just trying to piece together–“

“Greg’s face went from annoyance to a combination of shock and something I can’t name in a second’s time,” Edwin states. “Something shifted and I instantly knew he was about to snap.”

“Easy now, “Edwin urged, trepidation in his voice. “I don’t mean any harm. I just need to know–“

Greg then unleashed a howl that was heard throughout all of Moonwood Mill.

“The next thing I knew, I was in my meditation pose and ready to fight,” Edwin reveals. “It was as if some supernatural force was controlling me.”

“I couldn’t believe my luck, but I was actually pounding Greg with my full vampire force!” Edwin bragged. “He was whimpering as my fists were flying!”

However, Bella saw the situation for what it truly was.

“Yeah, Edwin got in a few good punches, but things went from bad to worse in just a few seconds,” Bella tells us. “I couldn’t look away.”

“When Greg stepped back to catch his breath, I knew it was all over,” Bella adds.

“I was down on the ground before I realized what had happened,” Edwin stated flatly.

With a final victorious howl, Greg vanished into the woods.

Edwin stood up a few seconds later.

“How bad is it?” Edwin questioned Bella concerning the damage done to his face.

“It doesn’t matter,” Bella gushed. “What matters is that you faced your fears, Edwin. You confronted Greg!”

“That bad, huh?” Edwin asked while wincing in pain.

After Edwin wobbled home, he was quick to release his anger on Kristopher.

“I can’t believe you let me think Greg would actually talk to me. He clobbered me!”

“You made more progress than you think, Edwin,” Kristopher offered reassuringly. “The fact that Greg listened to you at all speaks volumes.”

“I know it sounds foolish, but you should give Greg another chance. He might just surprise you,” Kristopher added.

“I didn’t need surprises. I needed answers. One thing was for sure–if defeating Vlad meant I had to come face to face with Greg again, you could count me out!”

Has Edwin head a dead end in his quest to stop Vlad?
